‘The Black Business Catalyst Project’ Named Best Online Series in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion by the 45th Annual Telly Awards

The 5-episode web series by geekspeak Commerce followed the eCommerce journeys of four local Black-owned businesses during Black History Month 2024.

Whitby, Ontario (May 22, 2024) – ‘The Black Business Catalyst Project’ by geekspeak Commerce has won Gold for Best Online Series – Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in the record-breaking 45th Annual Telly Awards. The Telly Awards honours excellence in video and television across all screens and is judged by leaders from video platforms, television, streaming networks, and production companies. This year’s winners include Adobe, Calvin Klein, ESPN, MTV Entertainment Studios, NASA, and more.

geekspeak Commerce is honoured to be ranked among these winners. ‘The Black Business Catalyst Project’ is a limited web series that was filmed and aired during Black History Month 2024. The series followed the journeys of four Black entrepreneurs as they worked alongside geekspeak Commerce to grow their eCommerce businesses. The production crew, which included writer/producer Camille Lawrence and Director of Photography Andrew Vance, worked tirelessly to shoot, edit and air each episode every week in February. The project was supported by BDC, the Town of Whitby and Invest Durham.

“Our goal with the BBCP was to celebrate Black History Month with real impact. We set out to elevate the stories of Black entrepreneurs while helping them to elevate their online businesses. In the process, we managed to inspire not only our participants but the community at large,” says Isaac Wanzama, Founder & Chief Strategist at geekspeak Commerce. “We thank The Telly Awards for this amazing honour.”

This was a record-breaking year for The Telly Awards with nearly 13,000 entries from across the globe and top video and television content producers.
