Walmart is the largest majority private employer in the world and has almost 11,000 stores in 27 countries around the world. In North America the name Walmart is synonymous with lower prices, and is well known for its slogan: Save Money. Live Better.

Online Challenges

With ecommerce websites in 11 countries, Walmart’s growing online presence has allowed its products and services to become even more accessible and convenient for consumers. But with a long list of global vendors providing product information in wide-ranging formats, tones and units of measure, communicating product benefits and specifications with compelling copy can be a challenge.

Style & Best Practices

geekspeak worked with Walmart Canada to analyze online best practices within its market segment and made recommendations. geekspeak assisted in defining the voice of walmart.ca by developing comprehensive style guides in both English and French, including category-specific style guides. We also created guidelines that would set the standard for their online voice and provide direction to their vendors.

SEO

Shoppers know where to find the closest Walmart store to their home or office, but ensuring walmart.ca products rank high in consumer web searches is another story. geekspeak assisted the content management team with their SEO (search engine optimization) by developing rich Meta Titles and Meta Descriptions enabling better search engine results.

Product Descriptions

Part of delivering great value entails providing customers with detailed product descriptions, including a complete list of features and key benefits. geekspeak crafts unique, SEO-optimized product descriptions for Walmart’s leading in-house brands including George, g21, Athletic Works and Black Web. They present each product in a compelling way while adhering to the walmart.ca style guide and site specifications. The result is custom content that drives sales and SEO rankings.

Enhanced Image Presentation

Walmart entrusts geekspeak with much of the product photography for walmart.ca. Our talented photographers and state-of-the-art studio showcase Walmart's products to catch the eye of consumers, and make them stand out from the competition. Our product photography formats can range from simple, well-crafted beauty shots to interactive product tours and full 360o spin images.

Knowledge-Based Content

Today’s online shoppers demand more than mere product listings. They want to know which types of products in a category best suit their needs, and why. Search engines like Google have also recognized this in the results and rankings they serve up to consumers. geekspeak worked with Walmart to create over 400 buying guides, how-to guides and informative articles for walmart.ca.

Ecommerce Partner

geekspeak developed course materials to assist in the education of the Walmart Canada ecommerce team. The resulting module, Product Content 101, was delivered onsite by geekspeak instructors and was extremely well-received. geekspeak also provides onsite bilingual support for the ecommerce team.

Vendor Support

geekspeak is also a trusted partner for Walmart, offering vendor support for copywriting and translation services. We currently work with Walmart vendors from all around the world including China, Taiwan, Bangladesh and North America. geekspeak provides seamless conversion, translating content into English and French and uploading it directly into Walmart’s CMS system.
